Statement
Lola Jane is an artist working in the expanded field of printmaking, her practice currently exploring the experience of collapse in the context of late-stage capitalism.
Within this exploration, she is interested in investigating the city as a site of mediation; how does the architecture of imagery we move through in both physical and digital spaces inform our experiences? Jane’s practice is heavily informed by the idea of the Spectacle, and how the constant onslaught of images we unavoidably encounter in contemporary society mediate social relations. Jane is interested in navigating these ideas in the context of the artworld by framing image-making as a means of production that is becoming increasingly isolated from the individual. Through this body of work, she suggests that by making art images one can critically re-engage with increasingly commodified cultural outputs in a way that allows both artist and audience to contend with a socio-cultural context of collapse.
